“THAT SNAPSHOT IN TIME IS LOST ONLY IN DISTANT MEMORIES, BUT BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE
AND SHARED WITH OTHERS IN A TIMELESS PHOTOGRAPH.
THAT PHOTOGRAPH IS THE CLOSEST THING WE CURRENTLY HAVE TO A TIME MACHINE
TO TAKE US INTO THE PAST OR TO A WORLD WHERE WE HAVEN’T YET BEEN.” – B. ELLISON
I have always been a ‘techy’ or ‘geek’ when it comes to computers & cameras and have had a love for photography ever since my late grandfather gave me a Kodak Disc 4000 for my birthday when I was around 9 years old. My photography obsession saw me join a camera club in high school where in the early days before digital (that seems like many years ago!) I developed my own 35mm photos from a Pentax K1000 in a darkroom. I quickly picked up the basics and skills of photography and used every opportunity I had to take photos wherever I was, including learning about different photographic tricks and creative techniques.
It was actually around late 2014 I saw a YouTube video describing the techniques to create a full 360 degree ’tiny planet’ photo using specialised cameras. I was intrigued with this new style of photography and instantly hooked, and bought my first 360 camera, the Ricoh Theta S, which helped me into this new virtual world of photographic awe and 360 immersion.
Since then I haven’t looked back, and have always been striving to challenge myself by learning more and increasing my knowledge in the latest and greatest 360 camera photography techniques and graphical imaging design techniques.
